On Monday June 10, 2013 at approximately 12:20pm, East Grand Fire and Grand Fire responded to a reported brush fire behind the Fraser Valley Library at 421 Norgren Road. Upon arrival, the fire was about 40 feet from the library on private land. The library and Muse Street were immediately evacuated. The fire tripled in size in a matter of minutes. Future hazards were surrounding structures and high winds. Responding agencies included East Grand Fire, Grand Fire, Grand County Sheriff, Fraser/Winter Park PD, U.S. Forest Service, Grand County EMS and Office of Emergency Management, Grand Lake Fire and Hot Sulphur Springs/Parshall Fire. The fire was measured to be approximately 2.5 acres. At 1:45pm the fire was 100% contained and no injuries were reported. Residents were able to return to their homes at that time. The fire remains under investigation and it is believed to be human caused.
